How to Disable Automatic Firmware Updates on Epson Printers

Disable Automatic Firmware Updates on Epson Printers and avoid problems with your refillable cartridges or Continuous Ink Supply System.

From time to time, Epson releases new versions of their printers firmware. These updates often have no benefit to the end user and are simply done to combat the use of compatible cartridges and supplies by making them unrecognisable by the printer once the update has been installed.

By default, printer settings have automatic updates ON and the firmware updates occur without you even knowing that it has taken place.

We highly recommended that you disable automatic updates of the printer software to avoid any problems with our compatible supplies as refillable cartridges and continuous ink supply system in the future.

Here's how you can disable the automatic updates from your computer.

Right-click the product icon in the Windows taskbar to reveal the menu, then choose Software Update Settings:

Epson Firmware Update Settings

Mark the checkbox "Never" and press OK:

If you have more computers using the same printer, make sure to repeat the process on all Windows computers that have the printer software installed.
